Nick, over here at Baliblog, wrote an interesting post about moving to and living as a foreigner in Bali. He is now here about 4 years and compares the changes after his first visit in 1993 and today and covers a lot of interesting areas, like

Besides being an interest read, it’s quite funny as well:
“…My impression of Bali, after visiting in 1993, was a small island, pretty much max’d out with tourism. One on occassion, a couple of German girls, another friend and myself, were walking up a set of steps from a waterfall. As we neared the top, we saw a dozen Germans, singing a song about ‘no beer in Hawaii’, at a restaurant. The girls were aghast, announcing that Bali was already too touristy…”

Bali is too touristy that’s for sure so stay away from Kuta beach! Other parts of the island are wonderful.
You should never trust anyone right away. The values are different. Remember if you have 2 of something and someone else has none… well you will before long own just one!
The people of Bali, Indonesia are quick to smile. And you will hear very little complaining from any one.
Be sure and respect their offering to their god. You will see them everywhere! Lots are right on the sidewalk. Just like the Balinese people the offerings are jewels.
everyone would like to share and feel the beauty of this island if there is left, regarding to the old story…and somehow I think it’s wise to prepared for the unexpected…
