The Marlboro Man swinging his LassoIt’s astonishing how western multinational companies invested their time and money around the globe to build their brands as easily recognisable as they are today. Nobody says Cola anymore but Coke and you are used to dine at Mc Donald’s or Burger King and know that your Big Mac or Whopper will taste the same in Addis Ababa or New York or Capetown (even though that isn’t completely true).

Global brand power…

Companies like Starbucks or Pizza Hut gain their strength for expansion from their easily recognisable Logos, colours and symbols, which make a good part of a successful franchise.

The Digital NomadA Digital Nomad is a person who needs mobile technology to conduct business while on the road which could be within a city, between cities or from other countries. Nomads are not location dependent except through personal choice and could be employed by a business or be freelancers.

This is a growing trend with the uncertainties of long term employment with a single company and rapid changes in emerging technologies, and there is a different mindset required to be successful.

So the guys over at Digital Nomads are trying to figure out what people who seem to live that kind of lifestyle are like and they came up with a meme about it.

Juice fresh from the Coconut, what a treat!Wednesday morning, 10am. Or is it 11am already? Doesn’t matter! You are just about to wake up. Ahhh, another nice holiday in paradise.

The temperatures hover already steadily above 30 degrees centigrade (in the 100’s Fahrenheit) and the sweat is running down your back. Your tongue is dry and feels like it’s stuck swollen on the palate of your mouth.

What can help to ease this serious situation?

Jump on your bike and find out where the next vendor is selling ‘Es Kelapa’ - Ice Coconut!

Living in a mind box - Life in a CubicleAre you one as well? A modern worker, an office drone? Sitting the whole day in your amoeba-like cell, doing some work, which hasn’t any real life value?

9-5, 8-6 or better 10-9? Numbers to define your life - time and space?

Are you one of those ‘busy bee’ cells in this gigantic organism called economics? Ready to be used when necessary, regularly abused and exploited, part of a modern collective mind, the grease in a strive for more effective processes, additional customer benefits, cost reductions, outsourced creativity, increasing profits, un-locked synergies. Think in company synonyms, sacrifice your soul. Live a life separated from the world.

MBarGo, Fraud, Violence, Pain, Criminals…because it is run by a bunch of fraudsters and violent criminals!

Why, you might ask? Here is the whole story:

My fiancee and me had a ball of a time partying the night away with friends on New Year’s Eve in Jalan Dhyana Pura, Bali. After midnight, around 3-4am of the first day of the New Year 2007, we thought it might be a good idea to sway in some chill-out rhythms to one of Kuta’s famous in-places - the music club “MBarGo” in Jalan Legian, Kuta. We’d been there before and usually they play a nice mix of music on 2 floors.

Medical Tourism - a way for me to cut my healthcare costs?I used to pay around 400-600 Euro for my Health Insurance - per month! Not that I didn’t try to reduce that or even get around it at all. Why not pay for what you use only?

But back in my home country Germany, you have no choice. You have to pay for a health insurance and you basically pay for it with an arm and a leg. That is, if you earn a good income. The service you receive, when things go wrong, can range from mediocre to great, although you have limited influence, on which doctor or hospital to chose.
